The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped 0.11 percent, or 1.26 points, to close at 1,188.85 points on Friday.
The index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, makes up the three core indices reflecting the performance of China's stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
The ChiNext Board, which started trading on Oct. 30, 2009, mainly lists high-tech companies and those with high growth potential.

Revenue from land sales in Beijing in the Jan-July period soared 265 percent over the same period last year, a leading real estate agency said.
Revenue hit 87 billion yuan ($14.19 billion), according to Centaline Beijing. Revenue in the first seven months was 1.34 times that of the entire revenue in 2012.
A land plot in a Beijing suburb last Tuesday was sold for 2.36 billion yuan to COFCO Property (Group) Co.
That implies a price of about 46,000 yuan a square meter, a record high in the capital.

Hundreds of lakes and rivers along the Yangtze River have dried up due to a severe and prolonged drought, according to the local drought relief headquarters.
Figures released by the Hubei Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Friday showed that 900 reservoirs and 132 rivers have been affected by the drought, causing one-third of the province's farmland to dry up.
Hubei Province, located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, is known as the "province of a thousand lakes" for its abundant water resources.
The provincial meteorological station said the drought will last for another week, adding that this will likely increase the amount of farmland affected by the heat.
Wang Zhongfa, deputy head of the drought relief headquarters, urged local authorities to save enough water for three months of residential use.
The Yangtze River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said on Thursday that the drought is widespread and has hit the provinces of Hunan and Guizhou, as well as Chongqing Municipality, in addition to Hubei.
Local authorities have prioritized water use for local residents and livestock.
The Yangtze River valley is a major rice-producing area.
The drought will likely affect agricultural production and lead to a decrease in rice output, according to an analysis by the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and local meteorological and agricultural departments.

The Chinese arm of Standard Chartered Bank rolled out its new mutual fund distribution business on China's mainland this week to extend product offerings for local customers.
The British bank was one of the eight overseas banks that received the green light from the top securities regulator last month to start the new business. About 90 percent of its 101 outlets on the mainland have launched the new business, said the bank.
Standard Chartered is cooperating with domestic fund management companies, including China Asset Management, E Fund, China Southern, Bosera Asset Management, Guangfa Fund Management, China Universal Asset Management and Bank of Communications Schroder Fund, to offer products comprising stock, bond, money and hybrid funds.
Standard Chartered said it began to prepare for domestic fund sales as early as in 2008, another proof that foreign lenders have a large appetite for the lucrative retail investment market in China.
"Domestic mutual fund offers our customers access to the China stock market and is an important investment channel," said William Wong, general manager of wealth management and priority and international banking at Standard Chartered China. "We will consider offering our customers discretionary accounts with more customizations on products and services, and more convenient selling channels including online platform."
Prior to the receipt of mutual fund distribution licenses, foreign banks in China had restricted access to the retail fund market. They were only allowed to sell Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor funds to Chinese institutional clients that invest in offshore securities and bond markets.
To further extend its product offerings to retail customers on the mainland, Standard Chartered may launch its sole branded credit card business before the end of this year, according to a bank source.
Citibank was the first Western bank to launch a sole-brand credit card on the mainland. HSBC has a co-brand credit card business with the Bank of Communications, China's fifth-biggest lender.

Benin's President Boni Yayi and Chinese Ambassador to Benin Tao Wiguang on Wednesday inaugurated the Cotonou Administrative Towers, a fruit of the cooperation between the two countries.
A project of 15.6 billion FCFA (31.2 million US. dollars), entirely funded by China EximBank, the twin towers of nine floors and 582 offices are erected in a public place facing the building housing Benin's Foreign Ministry, African Integration and the Francophonie.
"The completion of the administrative tower in Cotonou will contribute to the resolution of problems linked to deficit of office space for Benin's administrators and will also increase the efficiency of the executive authority," Housing and Environment Minister Blaise Ahanhanzo-Glele said.
He said the government had decided to relocate four ministries into the new building. The four will include the Ministry for Labor and Public Service, the Ministry of Relations with Public Institutions, the Ministry of Micro-finance, Youth and Women and the Ministry of Secondary Education and Professional Training.
The towers add to the number of buildings constructed by China in Benin since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in December 1972.
Some of the buildings include the Cotonou Conference Center, the Friendship Stadium, the Chinese Cultural Center, Parakou Hospital and the Godomey inter-change.

A training vessel of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy set sail from China on Thursday for a visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Malaysia.
The ship Zheng He left a military port in northeast China's Liaoning Province and will visit an ROK port from Aug. 4 to 7 and a Malaysian port from Aug. 16 to 19, said Jiang Guoping, commander of the mission.
During its 40-day voyage, the ship will also patrol the islands and reefs in the waters around the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea, Jiang added.
A total of 362 officers and soldiers are onboard Zheng He, and among them 152 are students from the Dalian Naval Academy. They will carry out at-sea training and practice during the trip.
Named after the famous Chinese navigator of more than 500 years ago, the Zheng He ship is the first ocean-going training vessel designed and built by China independently.
It has been in commission for 26 years.
