The National Museum of China granted collection certificates to artists who donated works to the Chinese Contemporary Arts and Crafts Biennale 2016 on Monday, honoring their achievements and "spirit of craftsman".
Twenty-four pieces of art from 21 artists entered into the museum's catalog, covering a wide range of crafts, including jade carving, wood carving, ceramics, metal artifacts, lacquer ware, embroidery and thangka.
"These artworks represent the highest level of China's contemporary arts and crafts achievements," the museum said in a statement.
Nyag Wang, an artist from the Tibetan autonomous region, who started learning thangka painting at age 11, said it is an honor to have his thangka depicting the Epic of King Gesar collected by the museum, the first time in his career.
The Chinese Contemporary Arts and Crafts Biennale has been held three times in the National Museum of China. At this year's event, more than 700 exquisite pieces entered the exhibition.
