(ECNS) The world-famous chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher has received complaints over its quality in China again, the Economic Herald reported.
A woman surnamed Sun in Jinan, Shandong province, complained on May 26 that she found a white maggot in a Ferrero Rocher chocolate that was produced in November 2013 with an expiration date 11 months later.
A customer service personnel at the company said the maggot might be a snout moth, whose growth duration lasts seven to 14 days. And a public relations officer at the company said the maggot was caused by Sun's improper storage, rather than in the chocolates' production.
Sun responded that she preserved the chocolates properly according to the storage suggestions printed on the chocolate package.
And most customers interviewed at a supermarket said they could not accept Ferrero Rocher's explanation. "These candies and chocolate products are individually packaged. The manufacturer can't excuse itself when bugs are found in its products," said a woman surnamed Wang.
