(ECNS) -- A "zombie" Boeing 747 air freighter has been left standing at Beijing Capital International Airport since its former owning company went bankrupt years ago, according to Beijing Youth Daily.
The plane has one of its windows covered with paper while the fuselage is patched up. Some even call it a "zombie" plane.
It was previously owned by Grandstar Cargo International Airlines Co., which was established in 2007 but went bankrupt in 2012.
"No plane is left unclaimed. It is worth hundred of millions of yuan. It won't be left there without an owner," says an airport staff member.
"If one company goes bankrupt, another will step up," according to an official from Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Corporation in Beijing, who is currently hosting the plane. Visible patches, which are not supposed to be present on a plane, could possibly mean it is under repair or that the paint has simply peeled off. In addition, it is only natural to cover up the window since the plane is not in service, the official explained.
