All in the spirit of providing better travel services for passengers.Zhengzhou Railway Station has announced a plan to offer discounted train tickets on 50 short-distance train journeys, over one third of its total trains.

The Zhengzhou Railway Station is crowded as usual. As a railway hub, it's hard to tell whether the discounted train tickets attract more people after the local railway bureau announced to offer the sales plan on Wednesday. But travelers are quite happy when hearing the news.

A citizen said,"Some tickets are on sale? No. I haven't heard of it. But it's always good to save us some money."

The discounted sleeper tickets that the Zhengzhou Railway Bureau offers are on the 50 short-distance train journeys, over one third of its total trains. Passengers taking short trips can save 40% the price on some tickets then.

Discounts are available until December 31st. The offer will be suspended during the National Day holiday, from September 30 to October 7.

The Zhengzhou Railway Bureau is one of the first to announce a plan to offer discounted train tickets. Many believe that the move is in line with the recent reform of China's railways authorities. But some have wondered whether the price will fluctuate too much and worry that travelling by train could possibly become more expensive than flying.

Yang Guang, Deputy Director of Zhengzhou Railway Station"It's nothing to do with the recent reform of China's railways authorities. It's been four years that we started the sales plan during the off-season. "

To whatever extend that the train tickets becomes flexible, most passengers still quite accept it.

A citizen said "It's understandable if the prices rise in the future, because our life is getting better. But if it's higher than flying, I won't take it anymore. "

Another citizen said ,"It's ok if the tickets prices rise or fall, but hopefully it won't be too frequent. Or at least the local bureau can think of a better way to inform us. Otherwise we never know what the current prices are."

The newly founded China Railway Corporation has the largest market in its field in the world. It is hoped that it will improve its services and provide a reasonable prices to add its value.
