China-India border talks held in New Delhi

Special representatives from China and India are meeting in the Indian capital New Delhi for another round of talks regarding long-standing border issues.


Deputy Chief of China's People's Liberation Army, Wang Guanzhong, who has held an annual Defence Dialogue with India's Defence Secretary R K Mathur, will also meet India's defence minister AK Antony.


The talks are expected to cover defence exchanges, joint military exercises as well as steps to increase confidence building measures between the two countries' forces, in light of the signing of the Border Defence Cooperation Agreement last year.


China and India fought a brief border conflict in 1962. The two countries share a two thousand kilometer long border that has not been formally marked. But in recent years, China and India have seen achievements in easing tensions along border areas while sharing the consensus of working together to ensure peace and security. The two countries will also meet in March for a strategic economic dialogue.
