(ECNS) A Chinese girl studying at a high school in Los Angles received a reply letter from US President Barack Obama on April 2, a month after she sent a letter to the White House asking for homework help, Chongqing Economic Times reported.
President Obama encourages her to keep studying hard and says the future needs a young generation with thoughts and dreams, according to 15-year-old Liu Yanchi, from Southwest China's Chongqing.
The letter made her feel respected and valued, she said.
Homework from the international issues course inspired her to write the letter, Liu said. "I think only the president can solve international issues."
Liu said she and four other international students asked two questions in the letter, about air pollution caused by traffic emission, and about living conditions and future development for international students in the US.
She and her peers spent more than one week on background studies before posing the questions, Liu added.
Margi Misslung Root, a teacher at Liu's school, said Liu was the first student in her school to receivefrom President Obama.
