A national seminar on children's literature was held Thursday to discuss how to nurture talent and works of excellence, according to a statement from the event.
The statement urged artists and publishers of children's literature to highlight the Chinese Dream and uphold socialist core values in their work.
They were also called on to use traditional culture and create high-quality works with Chinese style.
The statement called for more literature to encourage creativity and propriety in youth.
The statement said related authorities should advance the development of children's literature through improved policies and increased support.
It also asked authorities to use different channels to intensify advertising of literary works so that they can reach more readers.
About 100 children's literature authors and critics attended the event, which was organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and China Writers Association.
