The former vice mayor of a city in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for taking bribes, a local court ruled on Friday.

The Intermediate People's Court of Fangchenggang city also confiscated 400,000 yuan (62,650 U.S. dollars) of Lu Qinhua's personal property.

Lu, former vice mayor of Qinzhou city, pled guilty to accepting bribes of 5.56 million yuan from 2003 to 2014. A total of 5.06 million yuan was seized, the court said in a statement, and authorities are pressing for the remaining 500,000 yuan.

Born in 1962, Lu became Qinzhou's vice mayor in December 2010. He was investigated for "serious disciplinary violations" in June 2014.
