Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday vowed to advance political and security cooperation with Indonesia.
"China is willing to work with Indonesia to enhance multi-level exchanges and increase political mutual trust," Li said when meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Panjaitan.
Luhut attended the fifth deputy prime ministerial bilateral dialogue mechanism meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to increase security cooperation in the fields of defense, anti-terrorism, law enforcement, drug control and the Internet.
Li spoke positively of the current development of China-Indonesia ties, saying the two nations share common interests, and the potential for cooperation is huge.
The sound and stable development of ties not only has a significant impact on the two peoples and China-ASEAN relations, but also serves as a signal of peace and stability to the region as well as a driving force to economic growth in Asia, Li said.
He called for more pragmatic cooperation between the two sides to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Luhut said Indonesia views China as its most important cooperative partner, voicing willingness to improve exchanges, communication and coordination.
He said there is plenty of room to boost cooperation and exchanges in areas as varied as security and fishery. He also welcomed more Chinese investment in Indonesia.
Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also met with Luhut on Wednesday.
The two sides vowed to enhance cooperation on counter-terrorism, cyber security, cross-border crime and law enforcement capacity building, which would safeguard the stability and security of both countries and the wider region.
