An official with the State Archives Administration has been fired and is being investigated for corruption following allegations by a former TV host that she was paid 10,000 yuan (US$1,629) a day to be his mistress.

Ji Yingnan, 25, who worked for the China Travel and Economic Channel, said she had a four-year affair with Fan Yue, a former deputy director with the administration.

Ji said Fan gave her 10,000 yuan pocket money every day and spent more than 10 million yuan on luxury gifts for her during their time together.

On her microblog, Fan wrote: "Fan dated me as a single man and we lived together and loved each other for four years.

"Fan proposed marriage to me on June 4, 2011, but now he turned out to be a married man! He dumped me with some compensation and threatened me."

Ji published photos showing her bathing with Fan and the pair kissing each other in a naked embrace. She also uploaded a video of the scene that showed Fan proposing marriage.

Ji told the Beijing Times last Friday that she and Fan had started dating in 2009.

"Fan told me he has been divorced for the past dozen years and didn't have children as his ex-wife betrayed him. He was polite and showed tender love to me. He was 16 years older than me but I thought he was quite successful in his career," Ji told the newspaper.

She said they lived in a rented apartment in Beijing. The apartment cost Fan 9,000 yuan a month and he spent over 100,000 yuan on furniture, home applicances and computers, Ji said.

Ji said that after they moved to the apartment, Fan would give her about 10,000 yuan on average each day.

"He spent 3,000 yuan for a kitchen knife and he kept supporting me with money until August 2009, when he was taken away for investigation by the discipline watchdogs," Ji said.

However, the investigation cleared Fan of corruption and the couple resumed their life together, she said.

But in December Fan told her that he had a family but was divorcing his wife.

"On the next day he knelt on the ground and slapped his own face, saying he was again probed by the discipline watchdogs," said Ji. "Several days later, he left our apartment in fear that his wife would report to the watchdogs."

Ji said Fan, no longer a "polite man" but always cursing others, had dumped her.

At the beginning of the year, Ji reported the affair to the director of the archives administration.

Fan told the newspaper that Ji was not telling the truth and he was considering suing her in court.

On its website, the administration said that Fan had been removed from his post for discipline violations. It said that Ji's allegations were being investigated.
