(ECNS) -- Fake notes which look and feel like real money have become toys for school kids in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, the Wuhan Evening News reported.
A reporter at the newspaper said that during the Spring Festival holiday he saw a relative's kid playing with a wad of colorful paper resembling real bank notes in size, color, design and paper quality.
The only difference is that the fake money has the words "Children's Toy Bank" on the top instead of "People's Bank of China," he added.
"If someone uses them on a bus or in markets, they might get away with it," a relative said.
The kid said many of his classmates bought the toy bank notes for fun, and that some even use them as payments in games.
The reporter later found similar bank notes in denominations of 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 5 yuan, 10 yuan, 50 yuan and 100 yuan available in stores near primary schools in Hanyang and Hankou districts.
It is against the law to use the design of Chinese currency in posters, publications and commodities.
