Guangdong to push British apprentice system

China's Guangdong province announced that it will introduce a new apprenticeship system in vocational colleges and businesses in the southern Chinese region based upon similar examples from Britain on March 24th.
The Guangdong Academy of Education and the cultural and education section of the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou jointly signed a 3-year cooperation contract, agreeing to strive towards reaching a breakthrough in university-enterprise cooperation in vocational education.
Four British colleges and 7 vocational colleges in Guangdong are currently cooperating in this area to offer majors such as CNC technology, cars, computer network and tourism management.
Wei Zhonglin, the deputy director-general of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education said that the partnership aims to develop and establish a modern apprenticeship system in order to reform vocational education, and hopes to develop further innovation methods in cooperation with the UK.
