(ECNS) -- The Chinese Embassy in Thailand has issued a notice on its website to remind Chinese tourists of carrying sufficient cash when entering Thailand.

The Immigration Bureau of Thailand has asked foreigners to carry no less than 20,000 Thai Baht ($611) in cash or the same amount of other currencies upon arrival in Thailand, the notice said, adding credit cards can't be accepted as proof of personal finance.

The policy is applied to tourists with all types of visas including visas on arrival.

Immigration officers will inspect tourists at random, and those who don't fulfill the requirement will be refused entry.

Several Chinese tourists have been inspected recently, it said.
