Eye-gouged boy 'sees' world through electronic device

A boy who had his eyes gouged out in north China's Shanxi Province was able to perceive images through a magnetic electronic device after receiving trainings from therapists in Beijing, Xinhua reported on Saturday.
The device consists of a pair of sunglasses equipped with a miniature video camera, a controller and a tongue monitor.
After putting the tongue monitor in the mouth, visual images shot by the camera will be converted into electric impulse. The impulse will be transmitted later to the brain and be perceived by the user.
The boy named Binbin was lured into a field by a woman who gouged out his eyes on August 24, 2013. The incident sparked nationwide outrage.
