China grabs silver, bronze in Asiad men's beach volleyball

China pocketed the silver and bronze medals in the Asian Games men's beach volleyball tournament on Monday.
China's Chen Cheng and Li Jian lost 2-0 (21-15, 21-10) to Kazakhstan's Alexandr Dyachenko and Alexey Sidorenko in the final to settle for the silver while another Chinese pair Halikejiang and Bao Jian breezed past their Indonesian opponents 2-0 (21-17, 21-11) to clinch the bronze medal.
China thereby ended its Asiad beach volleyball trip with one gold, one silver and two bronzes, including the gold and bronze bagged in the women's action on the previous day.
"Before the match against such a strong opponent (Kazakhstan), we did not prepare enough for possible difficulties. During the match, we failed to give full play to our techniques," China's Li Jian said.
Li stressed that there was nothing to regret about as they had taken every moment in the match seriously. "After all, the Kazakhstan pair has more experience with international matches and did give us some pressure on the court," he added.
On future plan, Li said they would strive to gain a foothold in international arena as soon as possible. "The Chinese (men's beach volleyball) team is very competitive inside Asia, but we have always wanted to take on the world," he said.
