China remains biggest trade partner of Vietnam in first 9 months

China remained the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in the first nine months of 2014, accounting for some 19.5 percent of Vietnam's total trade turnover.


According to statistics of Vietnam Customs on Thursday, during the nine-month period, Vietnam sold over 11.094 billion U.S. dollars worth of goods to China and spent nearly 31.27 billion U.S. dollars for imports from China.


Trade revenue between Vietnam and China in January-September stayed at 42.364 billion U.S. dollars, said the customs office.


Meanwhile, during the period, Vietnam reported some 217.484 billion U.S. dollars in revenue from foreign trade activities.


Specifically, computers, electronic products and components, and crude oil are the two items with highest export turnover to China in nine months, at 1.528 billion U.S. dollars and 1.059 billion U.S. dollars, respectively.


Phones, machinery, steel, fabric and computers were among top import items from China, according to the customs office.
