The number of complaints filed by Taiwan businesspeople investing in the Chinese mainland has dropped over the past three years, said an official Thursday.
The complaints are received and handled by the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office and its local branches.
Wang Gang, head of the office's complaints department, said the Chinese mainland attaches great importance to the legal rights of Taiwan residents and he lauded the achievements in this aspect.
Wang said the office handled 388 complaints from Taiwan investors in the mainland in 2012 and 370 cases in 2013, while in the first ten months this year, there had only been 216 complaints filed.
Complaints range from land disputes to civil and commercial disputes, he said.
More than 90 percent of the cases from 2011 to 2013 have been solved, according to Wang.
He said that the Chinese mainland had implemented the cross-Strait agreement on investment protection and promotion, which took effect in February 2013.
This agreement especially helped with cross-Strait investment disputes. Both sides have, so far, coordinated and dealt with 174 such disputes, said Wang.
"Along with improvements in the rule of law in the mainland, Taiwan businesspeople will enjoy a better investment environment," he said.
