China to develop borderless scenic spot with Russia, DPRK

ECNS) -- China will develop a borderless scenic spot with its neighbors Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea along the low reaches of Tumen River, where the boundaries of each country meet, China news reported on Thursday.
According to officials from Jilin province, Northeast China, the idea was proposed in 2014, with all parties expressing a common interest.
Visitors would be able to access the international tourism cooperation zone without visas and exit via duty free channels, according to Jilin authorities.
China plans to strengthen multi-lateral exchanges and cooperation by developing such tourist economic cooperation zones, said Li Changqing, the deputy director of International Exchange at the Tourist Administration in Jilin.
"China, Russia and the DPRK all stand to benefit from complementary advantages associated with this borderless tourist scheme," noted Jin Chunshan, mayor of Huichun.
The local government will establish expert panels and attach great importance to the project, it was added.
