Endowed with natural beauty and historical relics, Mt. Panshan is known as 'the First Mountain in the east of Beijing'. It has been a popular destination since Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) that several Chinese Emperors, a large number of famous scholars, and poets admired the great scenery of Mt. Panshan in ancient times.

Qianlong, a wise emperor of Qing Dynasty (1636-1912), visited Mt. Panshan 32 times and wrote 1366 poems to express his admiration of it, which made Mt. Panshan become more famous. He wrote in one of his poem that if he knew the beauty of Panshan earlier, he would not go to Yangtze River Delta region.

Mt. Panshan is located about 110 kilometers away from Tianjin, and about 115 kilometers away from Beijing, which means you could easily get there by 1.5 hours' car ride from either Beijing or Tianjin.

Mt. Panshan is famous for its gorgeous peaks, strange rock formations, and clusters of ancient temples. Mt. Panshan has five peaks, among which the Guayue Peak (Hanging Moon Peak) is the highest one with a height of 857 meters (2811.7 feet). On its top, an octagonal tower was built in Tang Dynasty. Rugged rocks in a variety of shapes, some of which resemble a toad, a general or a boa, will greet you in the middle of the mountain. At its foot, clear water splashes on the rocks.
