(ECNS) -- A 1.85-kilogram colorful lobster caught in eastern Ningbo city, Zhejiang province has attracted flocks of visitors, local newspaper Zhejiang Daily has reported.

The lobster's body and tentacles measure 55cm and 102cm respectively, while its body is a turquoise color, turning mazarine on its head and tentacles. Its legs are black and white with yellowish dots in between.

The animal, known as a Chinese Splendor Lobster, is rarely seen in waters between Zhoushan and Wenzhou.

Fisherman Li Junfang, who caught the lobster, has been keeping it alive in a separate pond. "We change the water for it every day. This type of lobster lives in the deep sea, so we are trying to keep the water temperature low," he said.

Amid swarms of visitors, Li hopes the lobster will be bought and donated to a maritime museum to be put on display, rather than becoming a dish on a dinner table.

In a separate case, a 2.5-kilogram Chinese Splendor Lobster was caught on August 2, with an 80,000-yuan ($12,000) bid to buy it turned down at the scene. It is estimated that the price tag for a 1.5-kilogram lobster is approximately 700 to 800 yuan per kilogram. They say the bigger, the better, and the more expensive.
