(ECNS) -- China's first finance classes for primary and secondary school students will start in the well-developed Guangdong province of south China, Xinhua has reported.

The classes will be launched in the city as a pilot trial to initiate finance training among the public starting from childhood. Nearly 10,000 pupils from 36 schools in the provincial capital will start taking financial classes beginning September.

The practice is supported by Guangdong's security regulatory authority and approved by Chen Yunxian, Guangdong's vice provincial governor.

Corresponding textbooks, which have already been published, were a joint effort between Guangdong security and education authorities.

By integrating financial knowledge into the city's local compulsory education system, the local authority is also looking forward to promoting the example to the entire province.
