(ECNS) -- A man in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province found over 60 pearls in an oyster, a rare occurrence according to an ocean expert, Peninsula City News reports.

City resident Guo bought a bag of newly caught oysters from fishermen at a cost of 50 yuan ($7.7) near Jiaozhou Bay on Dec. 12.

Guo said he felt something hard when biting into an oyster at dinner, finding it to be a small pearl. A close examination of the oyster left him stunned after discovering over 60 rice-sized pearls of different shapes inside.

While finding a pearl in an oyster is not uncommon, finding one filled with over 60 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, said Zhang Suping, an expert with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Lottery winner-like Guo has given some smaller pearls to the institute for scientific research.

There is no word on how much the tiny pearls may be worth.
