Campaigning for Taiwan's leadership election is now into the final stretches.

All three candidates have one final week to convince voters to support them.

Eric Chu, candidate of the ruling Kuomintang Party, has led a large-scale parade through Taipei together with outgoing Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou.

Chu has been focusing his campaign on the KMT's economic achievements.

"Our common aspiration is that we have a peaceful society. Our common aspiration is that our economy can be prosperous."

Democratic Progressive Party candidate Tsai Ing-wen spent her Saturday campaigning in her home town of Pingtung in southern Taiwan.

The 3rd leadership candidate, James Soong with the People First Party, has spent his time campaigning in New Taipei, Taoyuan and Taichung.

18 million voters are eligible to cast ballots this coming Saturday.

Polling has DPP leader Tsai Ing-wen with a comfortable lead heading into the final few days of campaigning.
