The media "created a sound public atmosphere" around the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), top legislator Zhang Dejiang said as he met with journalists covering the event on Tuesday. [Special coverage]
"The coverage gave China a stronger voice," said Zhang, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.
He toured the news center set up by Xinhua News Agency in the Great Hall of the People, shaking hands with Xinhua staff and watching them report on the event through traditional and new-media platforms.
He typed on its mobile news app "NPC deputies represent the people."
Zhang also visited the press conference room and talked with journalists from other state media outlets including the People's Daily, China Central Television and China Daily.
This year's political sessions attracted more than 3,200 reporters from China and abroad, "serving as an important window for the world to observe China," he said.
The annual parliamentary session concluded on Wednesday.
