The prime minister is accompanied by Foreign Minister Arnold Nicholson, Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Robert Pickersgill as well as a business delegation to explore trade and investment opportunities in China.

During the visit, Simpson-Miller will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Primer Li Keqiang and other officials, reaffirming the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

"Jamaica and China have kept stable relationship between each other and maintained extensive exchange in politics, economy and culture," Simpson-Miller told Xinhua at the airport.

"Jamaica has been supporting and will always support One China policy upon which the two countries will further cooperations on both bilateral and multilateral levels," she added.

Simpson-Miller highlighted Chinese enterprises' contribution in boosting Jamaican economy.

"Chinese companies' investment improves Jamaica's infrastructure conditions and generates massive job opportunities," said the prime minister.

She looked forward to the awareness of Jamaican companies on opportunities generated by Chinese economic development.

"That's why this time we also send a business delegation to China," she said.
