More than 300 of the world's elite dance duos descended on Shanghai Saturday, for one of Asia's largest dance competitions. The Parinama Shanghai Open features some of the best in Ballroom and Latin dancing.
The moment the music starts, Danny and his Russian partner turn into the perfect dance couple.
Fresh off the plane, the pair are excited about taking part in one of Asia's top dance competitions.
"I'm not thinking too much about the result. I just hope we can do our best and enjoy the competition. I hope I can show my full skills to the audience, to show them I'm improving," Danny said.
Many younger dancers have signed up for the event. To help them prepare, the competition's judges, who are experienced dancers themselves, take part in workshops, offering some intensive training.
At Saturday's dacning competition, more than 300 dancing couples from around the globe, including some of the world dancing champions, teachers and their students, gathered in Shanghai for this amazing event.
Styles ranging from ballroom dances to Latin American dances, dancers compete in various groups and levels.
A live band adds more energy to the event with some traditional Chinese songs as a soundtrack to the dance moves, an unusual combination that seems to be working well.
Among the dancers are two familiar faces. All eyes are on them, as they shine throughout their performance and made their way all the way to the top.
"I'm really happy about how we performed. We worked really hard back stage. We are a great combination, we communicate with each other a lot so we know where to improve next time," Danny said.
It can take years of practise to become a professional dancer. But it only takes a second to enjoy dancing - just turn on the music and hit the dancefloor.
