(ECNS) -- Special organizations designed to encourage students to get up early in the morning are catching on at China's universities.

"Getting-up" Club, an organization dedicated to waking up sleepyheads at Peking University, was founded on March 25 by student Hu Xiaonan.

"I feel we are making history," said Hu.

After witnessing many students spoil their morning time by sleeping in, the sophomore at Peking University's School of Government said the inspiration came from a "self-reflection on my 20 years' stay-in-bed life".

"There is no need for a lot of sleep, as long sleep will come after death," she said.

"A mutual supervision system has been established in the club," Hu said.

According to the club's "regulation", members should get up early and meet in the university's canteen to have breakfast together.

So far, 40 members have made it a routine to get up early in the morning and have breakfast together in the canteen.

Just like their counterparts at Peking University, students at Northeast China's Jilin University opened an official WeChat account to encourage one another to get up early in the morning.

"The official account 'Are you still in bed? My fellow students' welcomed over 1,000 followers just 10 hours after its launching," said Zhang Tianyi, one of the creators of the account.

Sign-in times for followers of the account were set for 6:00- 7:30 a.m. every day. Anyone who signs in before 7:30 will get an automaticof, "Good morning, I am the alarm clock to wake up your dreams! You are the Xth student to get up at Jilin University today."

The first 100 students to wake up can get a free cup of soybean milk at the school canteen.

If a follower of the account signs in after 7:30 a.m., he or she will receive another automatic"Success will never come to those who sleep."

Over 10,000 students are following the account so far.
