At least 22 Chinese mainland people died in the Taiwan TransAsia Airways plane crash on Feb 4, 2015, according to local disaster relief authorities.
The seat map of the flight has been published, and the 15 survivors were seated mainly at the back of the plane, especially behind the twelfth row. Most of the passengers in window seats died in the accident.
The wreckage of the plane and the passengers' luggage can be seen everywhere at the crash site. The plane fell down into the river headfirst, with its tail floating on the water. As a result, most of the people in the front rows are missing or confirmed dead, while some of those sitting at the back survived the tragedy.
A British expert has found a correlation between the seat location and survival rate after years of study. According to research, the impact force is most significant in the first 11 rows when the plane hits the ground; and passengers near emergency exits and in aisle seats have a higher survival rate. However, the causes of plane crashes differ.
The search work of the crash on Feb. 5 had no progress due to bad weather, and more efforts will be made on Feb. 6. Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou said that officials must take responsibility for this plane crash and receive punishment, to ensure the safety of Taiwan airlines.
