The 11th Chinese peacekeeping force to Sudan (Darfur) is established at a pontoon bridge regiment under the 20th Group Army of the Jinan Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on April 13, 2015.
The newly established 225-member Chinese peacekeeping force to Darfur consists of two engineering support detachments, a logistical support detachment, a guard detachment and a class-1 hospital, according to sources.
They will be deployed to the mission areas in Darfur of Sudan in two batches in late April according to the plan, and take over the 10th Chinese peacekeeping force there to perform peacekeeping missions for eight months.
Their peacekeeping missions in Darfur will mainly include repairing and building bridges and roads, building fortifications, providing medical supports as well as doing hygiene and epidemic prevention.
To well perform their peacekeeping missions in Sudan, the 11th Chinese peacekeeping force built a simulated "Darfur UN city" on their training ground in China in February this year, trying to simulate the real peacekeeping conditions in Darfur.
Since February, the 11th Chinese peacekeeping force has completed intensive training on 20-odd subjects including operating engineering machinery, driving along complicated roads and conducting medical rescue, etc,.
Facing the possibility of being attacked and harassed by unidentified militants in mission areas, the 11th Chinese peacekeeping force has prepared 17 preplans on how to deal with emergencies in barracks and the like, and conducted pertinent training on subjects such as light weapon firing and individual tactics, according to Cui Wei, captain of the 11th Chinese peacekeeping force to Sudan (Darfur).
