Prosecutors in Taiwan on Sunday started investigation into a controversial visit by civilians to an AH-64E Apache attack helicopter in violation of military regulation.
Investigators searched a helicopter squadron in Taoyuan County in northern Taiwan and the houses of civilians who visited the Apache attack helicopter without proper procedures.
Eleven people, including Lao Nai-cheng, former deputy head of a helicopter squadron in Taoyuan , showbiz star Janet Lee and an unidentified Japanese, were summoned and questioned by the authorities over the controversy.
Lao reportedly took a group of 20 relatives and friends, including Lee and her family, to his base in Longtan District in Taoyuan on March 29 without the approval of his superiors.
Lao let visitors access a hangar that houses the Apaches and even board one of the helicopters and take photos, which Lee posted on her Facebook page and made her visit public.
The island's military announced on Friday disciplinary punishment for Lao and four other officers due to the incident.
