A tour bus owned by Elvis Presley was sold for more than 300,000 U.S. dollars on the Music Icons Auction held by Julien's Auctions in New York.

Equipped with air conditioning, a fridge, televisions and speakers, it seats 12 and has sleeping berths for nine.

Elvis's "Takin' Care of Business" and his famous lightning bolt motto are painted on the bodywork.

Its former owner was Tupelo businessman Larry Michael, who drove it to New York last week.

The buyer was a mobile homes specialist in Texas.

J.D. Sumner, who performed with The Stamps and sang backup for him, was also one of the former owners. It was sold with a copy of a 25,000 U.S. dollar check that Elvis wrote to Sumner for a down payment on it.

As nearly 200 Elvis items went under the hammer this week, including a military uniform and a Love Me Tender record dedicated to his beloved mother Gladys, auctioneers said Elvis remains to be the "king of the auction ."
