(ECNS) --  Hong Kong's microbial expert Yuen Kwok-yung will visit Guangdong province to learn about a H7N9 human case in Huizhou, along with experts from the Center for Health Protection and Hospital Authority, according to Hong Kong's Ming Pao on Monday.

Ko Wing-man, Hong Kong's secretary for Food and Health, said Sunday that Hong Kong will not bar the import of live chickens from Guangdong province, for no live chicken or frozen chicken from within 13 kilometers of the patient's workplace in Huizhou has been exported to Hong Kong.

The patient diagnosed with H7N9 virus is a 51-year-old female, who was receiving treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University until Sunday.

The mainland.s expert on bird flu Zhong Nanshan said the patient suffered cardio-respiratory failure twice in Huizhou, and is still in serious condition, suffering from severe pneumonia and developing fibrosis in her lung.

Zhong is the leader of Guangdong's panel of experts on preventing and controlling the H7N9 virus.

One confirmed case cannot prove the virus has moved to South China, Zhong added, but more infections can still be reported this summer, since the virus can only be killed in over 60 to 70 degrees Celsius.
