From ink landscape paintings to the exotic Tangka scroll paintings from Tibet, a large exhibition focusing on China has been unveiled at the Louvre in Paris. The cultural exchange is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between China and France.

The exhibition "East meets west" sees more than four hundred art works by dozens of contemporary artists from China showcasing Chinese culture for the eyes of Parisians.

The exhibits fall into the categories of traditional Chinese ink painting, oil on canvas, calligraphy, sculpture and handicrafts. 15 pieces of Tangka created by Tibetan artists are one of the top attractions. The scrolls depict Buddhist stories and local legends from Tibet. This is the first time Tangka art has been shown at the Louvre, one of the top art galleries in the world.
