China donated office equipment and supplies to the Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday in order to help officials at this key ministry to work faster and more efficient.

The handover ceremony was made between Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong.

The donation included 50 sets of desktop computers, 20 sets of laptop computers, 20 colour laser printers, 5 photocopiers, and other materials, which totally cost about 800,000 Chinese yuan (125,900 U.S. dollars), Bu said at the ceremony.

"This is the second time that the Chinese government has provided materials to the Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since the Cambodia-China Inter-Governmental Coordination Committee was established (in 2013)," she said. "China is confident that these materials will help increase work efficiency at the ministry."

Meanwhile, Bu expressed thanks to Cambodia for supporting the China-proposed "Belt and Road" initiative and helping promote China-ASEAN relations and cooperation.

For his part, Hor Namhong said these materials are very useful for officials at the ministry to work faster and more efficient.

He said Cambodia and China are close friends, and thanked China for providing a great amount of aid to Cambodia for socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

"China is a leading provider of development assistance to Cambodia and a lot of Chinese enterprises have invested in Cambodia, which have greatly contributed to economic development and poverty reduction," he said.
