French Open: Radwanska tops Zhang in opener 6-3, 6-0

Zhang didn't help herself too much with a meltdown in the second set.
The second tennis major of the year is underway on the red clay of Roland Garros. Polish third seed Agnieszka Radwanska was always the favourite against China's Zhang Shuai, and she went through in straight sets, to be the first name into the second round of the French Open.

Radwanska, sporting a vivid, floral dress at the top of the screen, made a strong start and took a 3-2 lead. But Zhang, the world number 34, levelled it after a long rally. Nice backhand down the line and a super forehand follow-up.
The first eight games all went against serve, but the break came a the worst possible time for the Chinese, who had been holding her own until then. Radwanska, a quarter-finalist here last year.
Getting on top in this rally with the wide forehand, and going up by a set to love, and that was the end of Zhang's challlenge.
Radwanska swept through the final set in just 21 minutes as Zhang was undone by her 24 unforced errors in the match.
The Pole advanced into the second round with a 6-3, 6-0 victory, where she will face either French wildcard Mathilde Johansson or Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
